What is a good quality and priced electric guitar set with amp?

Question:
I'm searching for a good priced beginner electric guitar set that comes with an amp. It needs to be be below $250 dollars, but if it's quality is good and it will last a while I'm willing to pay up to $300. I've played a little bit of acustic, but not much so I don't have much experiance in playing. It needs to be a guitar that will be able handle my learning mishaps. It needs to be one I can buy online and site links are much appreciated.


Answer: I bought my son a epiphone les paul special II with basic amp package. he's been playing with it for 4 years(lessons) and just now wants to upgrade. It's what his guitar teacher recomended, It's a great deal about $199...I think and a great beginner guitar.
