Answer: for that type of playing, almost any type of electric guitar will do.
It usually breaks down into 3 biggest types...
1.Fender Stratocaster
2.Gibson Les Paul
3.Gibson SG
Keep in mind there are hundreds of companies that make stratocaster "type" guitars and most any of them will work for the type of music you listed.
There are really only 2 companies (not counting Baldwin) that make SG's and Les Pauls. 1 is Gibson and the other is Epiphone, but if youre getting one of these, spend the cheese and get the Gibson.
